Inspiring Children to be Kind
Marty is a quiet lion that doesn’t usually give in to peer pressure until he is in the
presence of bullies. Toby sits at the back of the bus when Marty and the other
children start pointing fingers, calling him names, and having his glasses taken
from him. But what happens when the bully then becomes the victim himself?
Bentley and his friends come together to show kindness as they deal with a
difficult situation.
This book for children ages 3-8, discusses bullying at school. It focuses on the
importance of showing kindness in everyday situations through empathy and
compassion, which are vital to a child’s social and emotional well-being.

Quite simply I just loved the gentle kindness of
Bentley Hippo, which I feel is the real, heartfelt
lesson in this lovely story about friendship and
inclusion. The illustrations are great, and I'm sure
Bentley is going to be a big star. Waiting for the
movie!
