Books featured in the Storytime Sessions in the Kindness Kangaroo
Library will be viewed by a committee of children, librarians, parents
and authors. Each will be scored and the highest scoring book for
the month will become a candidate for the Kindness Kangaroo
Library Book Award.
Additionally, each month there will be a new video called Storytime
Lessons where resources from children's authors will be used to offer
lessons, insights and inspirations to help build storytelling skills.
What inspired you to become an author?
I have always enjoyed stories - from reading books to doing plays - and I have always loved
children, so it made sense to combine these two loves into a career.
How many books have you written and what genre/s and what age group?
I have 64 books in print - most of them are picture books geared to ages 4-8 but I do have a
couple of chapter books for aged 9-11
What is your goal for writing?
With my writing I hope to empower and inspire children and help get the conversation
started on topics that can make a difference in the life of a child. I work to inspire storytelling
skills in children to give them a voice, give them a chance to explore their imagination and
encourage them to tell stories of their own.
With all the chaotic and conflicting world issues, what message do you have for
kids?
I believe compassion and understanding are key concepts to learn to
create a better world and stories are a powerful tool to help teach
these concepts to children.
