THE A STORY

Amos applies for a job

Hi, I'm Amos and I think I must be the luckiest man alive! As soon
as I saw the advertisement in the newspaper yesterday, I knew that

job was for me. I was available, because I had just left another job,

and I had the ability too, because I was an expert at air assessment.

5 The only one in my area! In addition, I had another advantage - my
apartment was right around the corner from the Air Assessment

Center. I wouldn't have to drive anywhere in the morning, so I could

arrive at work ahead of everyone else. If they took my appearance

into account as well, I was absolutely sure that as soon as I applied
10 for the job, they would accept me. I apologize for not being very

modest. I must admit that this is my biggest fault.

What is air assessment, you ask? Actually, it's an alternative way

of assessing the amount of air that we breathe every day. The aim
of this assessment is to be able to advise public places like offices,

15 banks and even the army, how many people can work in every room.

In this way, they know how many adults they can afford to have in a

building. This is not simple! After all, we breathe more air when we
are awake than when we are asleep, and if the workers are active,

their employers must make an arrangement for a lot of fresh air!

20 In the winter, when many workers are absent because of illness,

there is an argument among the air assessment experts. Some
say that although less people come to work every day, each person

needs more air so they won't get sick. If everyone got sick, that would

be awful! Other experts argue that more air is not the solution. The

25 workers should get flu shots against illness.
It's my turn to go in now, because the list is in alphabetical order,

and my name is Amos. Wish me luck!!!
